Despite the challenges of 2020, Morgans Consult have continued to grow and evolve throughout the year. We have adapted our services and products to make sure we have remained relevant to existing and new clients alike. Our team have remained positive throughout this difficult year, continuing to go above and beyond to deliver a quality service and ensure our clients remain safe.
Take a look at some of our highlights from the year:

BBC Cymru Wales – Central Square

In January 2020, we won a very competitive tender against 5 UK-based design and branding agencies to work with the BBC. This project involved manufacturing internal and external branded signage at the BBC’s new headquarters in Cardiff’s Central Square, as well as updating branding at other BBC sites across Wales. Due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this project is currently 50% finished and the remaining work will be completed by April 2021. This ongoing project also requires us to change the BBC branded lightboxes at Central Square every 6 weeks in 2021.
Hodge House – Signage Scheme

The historic Hodge House in Cardiff underwent a huge refurbishment project to modernise the building in 2020. Architectural firm Stride Treglown stripped back the 1990s refurbishment to reveal the original features from when the building was first constructed back in 1915. We then worked closely with Paramount Interiors to revamp the interior of the building. We manufactured a range of window manifestation, wall and floor graphics, wayfinding systems and wallpaper that would enhance the new space. The Hodge House refurbishment won the Insider Media Wales Property Workplace of the Year award 2020, and was also shortlisted for the Development of the Year award.

Unite the Union
Unite the Union is the largest trade union in the UK, and provides free financial planning, advice, legal support, and insurance to its members. We were tasked with manufacturing a range of internal and external signage for a large number of sites across the UK. This work included fitting large built-up LED illuminated letters on the roof of Unite’s Heathrow site, which is visible by planes, and fitting built-up letters at the Holborn head office where our fitters had to abseil down the building to carry out the installation.

Cardiff County Council
We’ve continued our ongoing relationship with Cardiff City Council by carrying out projects in various youth hubs around the city. These works include internal and external signage, internal wayfinding solutions and DDA signage systems. Our latest project for Cardiff Council has been at the Butetown youth hub, where we manufactured and installed floor and wallpaper graphics, external signage and illuminated letters.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been hard at work producing safety products that will help to prevent the spread of the virus. Below are just some of the projects we have worked on:
Acrylic Protection Screens

We teamed up with BOF to supply safety solutions for a number of public sector buildings in Wales, as well as in a number of universities across England and Wales. These universities include Cardiff, Bristol, Bath, Swansea, Coventry, Warwick, Wolverhampton, Southampton, Winchester and the University of South Wales, to name just a few. These solutions consist of health and safety signage, warning graphics, floor decals and acrylic protection screens. To date, Morgans Consult and BOF have worked on over 300 projects together and installed over 2000 high quality protective screens.

Unite the Union
We provided COVID-19 safety products for all Unite the Union branches across the UK, allowing them to reopen and continue operating as safely as possible. We manufactured a range of custom door signs, floor vinyls and safety posters, all customised to suit the requirements of each individual site.

Coffee #1
We sent out custom branded COVID-19 safety packs to all Coffee #1 stores nationwide, allowing them to safely reopen following the UK lockdown. These packs included safety posters, prevention stickers, floor graphics and acrylic safety screens.

Spire Healthcare
We designed and manufactured a range of COVID-19 wayfinding signage for Spire Healthcare to help patients safely navigate their hospitals nationwide. We have also created safety packs for each site across the UK, featuring safety signage and floor graphics.

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water
For Welsh Water, we created a range of custom safety packs to help prevent the spread of the virus amongst their employees. These packs included safety posters, desk markers, floor graphics and prevention stickers.

Cardiff City Football Club
We provided a selection of custom safety products to allow a COVID-19 testing centre to be set up Cardiff City Football Club grounds during the first UK lockdown. We manufactured a range of acrylic safety screens as well as custom signage to keep both staff and visitors to the site safe at all times.

Virus Prevention Visors
During the first UK lockdown, we discovered that key workers were struggling to obtain the necessary protective equipment to allow them to work safely during the pandemic. Realising that we could help, we began manufacturing and donating free face visors to NHS workers across South England and Wales. As of today, we have donated over 2500 safety visors to the frontline workers of the NHS.

New technologies
2020 has been a big year of growth for Morgans Consult. We have invested in new innovations with two new lasers, allowing us to expand our production capabilities and meet the unprecedented demand we received this year. We’ve also been exploring new materials and manufacturing technologies that allow us to stay ahead of the curve and offer a wider range of signage solutions.

Working from home
Keeping our employees safe has been our top priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, we followed the government guidelines and switched to home working where possible to minimise the risk of spreading the virus. Our team took this in their stride and quickly adapted to the challenges of working from home. We used video conferencing tools to maintain communication with one another and with clients.
We have lots of exciting projects lined up for the new year, so make sure you keep an eye on our News page and our social media channels to stay up to date!
