Minister for Mental Health says Morgans Consult are “leading the way” during World Mental Health Day visit.

On World Mental Health Day 2024, Morgans Consult welcomed Sarah Murphy MS, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, to its headquarters.

Sarah Murphy MS met the team, enjoyed a tour of the collaborative workspace, congratulated the seven recently graduated Welfare Champion’s on the completion of their CPD certified training, and enjoyed a few games of table football.

This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day is ‘mental health at work’. Over the past year, Morgans Consult has been utilising the Welsh Government’s In-Work Support Service to bolster its employee wellbeing programme.

Through an initial Wellbeing in the Workplace training session, Morgans Consult has hosted a series of wellbeing workshops and activities all designed to enhance morale, mental health, and employee’s confidence in discussing health and wellbeing issues. From mindfulness and meditation sessions, breath-work workshops, to “Move at Midday” which encourages employees to get out for a lunchtime walk as a group, safeguarding mental health at work is seen as a team effort.

Seven workplace “Wellbeing Champions” have been trained and now form a wellbeing group so they can help support each other across the company. These Wellbeing Champions were presented with their accreditation certificates by Sarah following her tour of the workspace.

During her visit, Mental Health Minister Sarah Murphy said:

“It was fantastic to visit Morgans Consult and see how they are leading the way with Wellbeing in the Workplace training sessions thanks to our In-Work Support Service.

“Employers have a responsibility to support the mental health of those who work for them and ensure it is easily available and accessible.

“We are committed to supporting the mental health of people remaining in work and returning to work, as this will provide clear benefits for individuals, organisations and communities.”

Michael Kitchin, Managing Director at Morgans Consult, said:

“The wellbeing workshops at MS-Group have had a significant positive impact on employee morale and productivity.

“Participants have engaged really well, lots have discussed their improved mental health, and we have developed a stronger sense of community within the workplace.”

Morgans Consult’s mental health and wellbeing journey has been supported by Case-UK, who’s Business in Work Support Wellbeing Workshops Programme is funded by Welsh Government.

As part of her visit, Ms Murphy took the opportunity to have a tour of both the collaborative working areas, the social spaces, and the company workshops, learning a little about how what it’s like to work at Morgans Consult.

Ms Murphy added:

“You can feel the energy when you’re in this space. You can see staff are happy to be here, they feel connected to their colleagues. This is exactly how you want to feel when you come into work every day.”
