Welsh Ambulance Service are dedicated to their responsibilities as a trust. Their duties as a service include attending more than 250,000 emergency calls a year, over 50,000 urgent calls and transport over 1.3 million patients to over 200 treatment centres throughout England and Wales.
The Brief
The client was looking to transform part of their office space. The area, a busy call centre, needed to be improved acoustically to create a better environment for staff and to ensure the best possible service was being given to the client’s customers. The walls in the space were also in poor repair, and if left uncovered would need to be replastered, repainted at a high cost.
Our client had mentioned a flex-face system as they were aware that these could offer some of the requested qualities, but we advised a more appropriate product that would exceed their requirements.
The product requirements for this project were:
- Hold acoustic properties
- Feature across two walls of 12 meters and 8 metres with no visible joins in the design
- Incorporate company logo and preferred colour choice
- Easy application with no interruptions to building structure
- Deliver project within a tight deadline

The Solution
Our solution was to use PET felt acoustic panels. The panels met every requirement asked by the client while allowing a more efficient application by our team. The panels (only 9mm thick) take up minimal space and affectively cover the whole two walls with no visible joins.
The panels offered acoustic properties and suited the colour request our client had asked for. We also incorporated the Welsh Ambulance Service crest in Foamex and mounted it onto the felt – this is an easy process and allowed the logo to look affective against the felt.
