Contract Awarded – Transport for Wales, WCB Rebranding Signage

Morgans Consult is delighted to have won a competitive tender for Transport for Wales (TFW) as part of its rebrand across the Wales and Borders network.

TFW is investing in upgrading existing station signage to improve wayfinding and placemaking, enhancing network useability and passenger experience.

This contract award means Morgans Consult will be responsible for the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of signage throughout the network.

Tender Themes & Requirements:

TFW outlined key considerations and requirements within the tender, and felt Morgans Consult is best equipped to deliver on those elements, which include:

  • User-Centric Design: The primary focus is to enhance the passenger experience by simplifying and rationalising signage, improving wayfinding, and incorporating the TFW Placemaking principles. Morgans Consult demonstrated its design capabilities and evidenced it’s knowledge of wayfinding and user experience principles.
  • Compliance with Standards: Morgans Consult will be required to adhere to strict rail industry standards, including accessibility regulations, bilingualism, and heritage guidelines. Having worked with various public and private sector institutions across Wales, including Welsh Government, Cadw, and local authorities we were able to evidence a depth of experience that competitors couldn’t throughout the tender application.

  • Sustainability: TFW prioritises environmentally sustainable materials and production processes, aligning with the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. Morgans Consult demonstrated it’s commitment to sustainable manufacture and materials in its tender submission, which proved a key element of its successful application. Morgans Consult are ISO14001 accredited, and part of Welsh Governments Green Growth Pledge. We also have a number of sustainability and social responsibility initiatives including our Plant a Green Future scheme.
  • Effective Communication & Collaboration: TFW emphasise communication and collaboration between the contractor, TFW, and stakeholders are essential for smooth project execution. Our business is built to ensure clients have direct access to a Relationship Manager, and where necessary, our design, manufacture and installation teams. Communication and collaboration are a core part of our processes, clients kept informed at every stage of the project, from survey through to aftercare.
  • Protecting History and Heritage: Many TFW stations in Wales are listed, and so its imperative that designs are sympathetic to the building’s history, heritage and location. Further, decisions about materials, fixing methods and positioning must all be made with the building’s listed status in mind. Morgans Consult work with many listed properties across the UK, including RNLI lifeboat stations, Cadw historic sites, Welsh Water visitor centres and historic reservoirs, and numerous listed buildings nationwide. We evidenced our ability to ensure our work does not impact the historic integrity of such sites.
