Spire Healthcare is a leading independent healthcare group based in the UK. It is one of the most extensive private healthcare providers and is the largest in terms of revenue. Morgans Consult works across the entire Spire Healthcare estate which includes 39 hospitals, over 50 clinics, medical centres and consulting rooms.

Spire Healthcare put the patient at the heart of everything they do, creating environments that are welcoming, calming, easy to navigate, and allow healthcare professionals to deliver the highest quality of care.

Wayfinding in healthcare environments is critical. Not only are the sites complex, but visitors are also often in a state of heightened anxiety or distress. In A study by The Guardian, poor navigation equates to a significant amount of the 15 million appointments being wasted each year.

It is also important to recognise the wayfinding experience of patients encompasses the entire spectrum of services offered: from large illuminated external signage, internal directional signage and maps, both static and digital, to staff and scheduling. We work with Spire Healthcare across this spectrum of solutions.

• We worked with our sister company, Dipec, to manufacture and supply acrylic infection control screens, machinery guards and vacuum testing chambers.

Brief

Initially, we were responsible for rolling out the Spire brand across its sites, recommending systems that most suitable to meet this goal, and updating their inventory of wayfinding systems and signage. But the scale of the estate makes this an ongoing process, as the sites the client manages expand and evolve.

Solution

Morgans Consult carried out extensive surveys of each Spire Healthcare site, ensuring we offer solutions that meet the client’s high expectations for quality and useability.

We work with the client to help design wayfinding systems that give patients, visitors and staff the information needed to navigate the complex sites easily. Each site is different and while wayfinding signage is consistent, routes are unique, meaning our surveying and installation teams have developed an intimate knowledge of each site.

Our designers work with Spire Healthcare’s detailed brand guidelines to ensure brand consistency across the estate. We manufacture our solutions in our production facility in Cardiff, before our installation team attend site to install the final solutions.
